From South Eastern Australia, the trees are affected by wildfires, years of drought, attack by insects and the occasional flood. It is from this that Australian Wormy Chestnut is born with each piece showing nature’s signature. Deep red gum veins formed by fire, ambrosia beetle marks, pinholes, and squiggly worm marks Australian Wormy Chestnut hardwood table tops.

All hole and gum veins are 99% filled with an epoxy to form are hygienic surface.

As these hardwood table tops are relatively heavy, a steel base such as the Delta table base is recommended for larger tops.

Product Features	Chestnut hardwood table tops are made from sustainably harvested timber. Coated with 3 layers of a hard wax oil which penetrates deep into the timber to give the top a durable and natural look. The hard wax oil finish is water resistant while allowing the timber to "breath". All hardwood tops are 32mm thick. Thicker tops available on request.
Timber Variation & Surface Appearance	Timber is a natural product, so colour variations are to be expected. We do try and select our timber on colour consistency, however that is not always possible. Australian hardwood has quite a few gum veins, wormholes, surface checking (small cracks) and other natural features. We use a 2 pack resin to fill most holes to give you a hardwearing, smooth and hygienic surface. There are times a few small holes are not completely filled which will not be detrimental to your tabletop.
Indoor or Outdoor Use	All solid hardwood table tops are only suited for indoors. We can make you a slatted table top from Chestnut hardwood, which will be more durable for outdoors.
Maintenance	Hard wax oil finish are durable, however do not use any solvent or ammonia based cleaners. A light wipe using a regular floor cleaner/dishwasher detergent is enough to clean the top. If the top looses its lustre, do not use regular furniture oils. We can recommend maintenance products.
